Year 3

Welcome back to the last term of this year. The year has absolutely flown by and I am sure you will all agree it has been a very busy but successful year for our children and the school community.

We have enjoyed many activities during the year as individual classes, levels and whole school events. This term brings many more incursions/excursions and our Awards Night.

On Tuesday, 9th Oct 2018, Year 3/4 went to see ‘The Gruffalo’ at Eastbank. It was a musical adaption of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Everyone enjoyed the show.

On Friday, 12th Oct 2018, Year 3s participated in their first ever Inter-school Athletics Carnival at the McEwen Reserve. A perfect day all round! Sunny weather and great competitors who showed wonderful sportsmanship while enjoying themselves. Our Boys Relay team won second position. It was a great experience for everyone.

In English, we are learning about different types of poetry. We have learnt about Rhyming Couplets, Quatrains, Diamantes and Haiku poems. Everyone worked really hard and put a lot of effort into their work. Writing Diamantes was very interesting. It was a tough decision to choose opposites for our poems.

In Numeracy, we are learning about writing and solving word problems for all four basic operations i.e. addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. We also played maths games on the ipads to revise different maths concepts. It was fun.

On Friday, 19th Oct 2018, we had our School Sports Day and Fun Run. Everyone dressed in their P.E.uniform/house colours. We had to move from one station to the other to participate in different sports like novelty races, sprints, long jump, high jump, vortex throwing and shot put. It was fun.

In Science, we are learning about Living and Non-living things. We learnt about the characteristics of living things and how animals and plants are different and similar. We are really excited to go to the Kyabram Zoo where we will learn further about how to classify animals.
